My name is Jaclin and survived McMaster's Occupational Therapy program. Just kidding. But I really am a graduate of this program that has set me up for a wonderful career in occupational therapy!
While I was finishing up my undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, I was unsure of what career paths were out there outside of becoming a physician. I knew my chances of getting into medical school school were slim, as my marks were good but not exceptional and my MCAT scores were also disappointingly average. Originally, I wanted to become a psychiatrist, as I have always had a strong passion for mental health and dementia. I was fortunate enough to shadow an OT in a mental health setting and decided to apply, with the hopes of ending up with a career in mental health or geriatrics.
I'll post some more about my experience applying to OT school, OT careers, and my time at McMaster later!
